Last week I took time off for Continuing Education. Earlier in the year I had taken my first week of Continuing Ed and watched the online version of the Festival of Homiletics. For just $99 I was able to upload all the content to watch later. The festival is a full week so there were lots of videos to view! There were some great preachers with many ideas and tips for those of us to preach each week. So, I spent a large part of the week watching sermons and seminars. During the weekend, my daughter flew in for a quick visit from Reno, NV and we had a great time! I am grateful to the congregation for allowing me time to hone my craft and also take time for a little respite with my family.
This was my theme passage for the week:
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no-one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31
A side note: I am most definitely renewed on the inside, but my body seems to disagree. I woke up in the middle of the night on Tuesday and was unable to walk on my right leg. The doctor suspects a pinched sciatic nerve but can't see me until Monday. In the meantime, I am doing what I can to relieve the pain. All that to say, this pastor will definitely not be running and probably not walking too well during worship. Prayers would be great!
See you Sunday!
