It’s hard to believe it’s almost the end of May and Memorial Day is next weekend. You know what that means… summer is almost here! Summer is a time for vacations, spending time outside, picnicking and all sorts of fun things. It’s also a time for rest and relaxation… or at least it should be. It seems that even in the middle of summer our lives are so busy. Sometimes it’s difficult to just slow down and rest.

In the book of Genesis, we read about God creating the world. God worked for six days and then what happened? He rested! Even God needed to take a break! Should we be any different? The answer is, “no”. We need to follow God’s example and take time to rest. And summer is the perfect time for rest. So, take time off… let your body…and your mind disconnect. Take a nap, read a book, go for a walk, sit on the front porch with a glass of lemonade and just watch the world go by.

If you’re like me, resting isn’t an easy thing to do. There is always something vying for my attention. I just need to be reminded. So as one of my favorite comedians Bill Engvall says, “Here’s your sign…”

TAKE TIME TO REST!!

See you Sunday!
