I know... it feels like Christmas just happened. Some of you probably still have your decorations up. But this year Lent is super early. Ash Wednesday is on February 14th... Valentine’s Day. I’m thinking I can work with that... the day that celebrates love is the day we remember what God has done for us because he loves us so much!
So, we will start with our traditional Ash Wednesday worship at 6:00 pm. Then each Wednesday following that we would like to do something similar to what we did last year. We met each week at 6:00 pm in the gathering space for a simple supper of soup and bread. Then we had an interactive Bible study. This year the Northern Illinois Synod has given us the gift of a Lenten study that I think you’re really going to like. It’s called, "Promises at the Crossroads of History and Hope". The study will focus on five characters in the Old Testament: Abraham, Sarah, Haggar, Ishmael, and Isaac.
What we need now is someone, or a couple of someone’s, to organize the supper portion of the evening. You would be responsible for getting volunteers to provide soup and bread, set up, and clean up. Funds will be available to purchase bowls, napkins, tableware, and drinks. If you would be interested in coordinating this wonderful experience, please contact me!
See you Sunday!
