This week I am doing Continuing Education (CE). Most professionals like teachers, medical personnel, service care providers, and many others are required to do CE to keep their licensing. Pastors aren’t “licensed” and are not required to take CE, but it is strongly encouraged. When a congregation calls a pastor usually 2 weeks of CE is in the contract aside from vacation. As a congregation you have generously given me 2 weeks of (CE) which I am grateful for! I took a week in February and attended several online seminars. This week I am attending the Global Leadership Summit (GLS) put on by the Willow Creek Association. I have attended this summit a few times in the past 10 years and find it very helpful. It just happened that it collided with week 2 of my recovery from my ankle reconstruction which is allowing me to view it virtually.
I really like the GLS because it gathers leaders from around the country to present. They aren’t all religious leaders…some are leader in business, technology, and other non-profit organizations. The people who attend the GLS aren’t all religious leaders either. A few years ago, there was a group from a local hospital attending. The people at my table were from a police department in a nearby town.
I’m writing this blog on Wednesday as I will be in sessions all day Thursday. So, I can’t tell you what I think about this year’s speakers. But if it’s anywhere near as good as the last one…I’m having a great time and learning a lot… even if it is from my recliner!
See you Sunday!
