In just a few short days 2022 will be history and the fresh start of 2023 will be here! This is the time of the year for new plans, dreams, hopes, and changes. I don’t know about you, but I just make it into the new year a couple of days and most of those things have gone by the wayside. The “new” has worn off and I’m left with most of what I thought I left behind. Does that sound familiar? I was having a conversation with someone just the other day that expressed that feeling with their troubles. We bring our problems to God and then turn around and pick them back up again. It sounds really silly, but it’s exactly what happens.

I ask myself, “why do I want to pick up what I just gave to God?” Is it a control issue? Is it because it’s familiar? Is it because I’m afraid? All of the above! The good news is God knows how we feel. God knows laying down our cares, concerns, and fears is difficult. But that doesn’t change the promise that when we bring it to God, God is ready to help. God is ready to take over the burden and free us from it… every day… again and again!

From 1st Peter 5:7… “cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.”
